Tabletop Tuesdays

Main content start

Tabletop Tuesdays is an event series held on the third Tuesday of each month. At these events, we feature a selection of board games and collection items from across SUL's holdings around a specific theme. Drop in to learn about the month's featured game(s) and/or try some of the board games we have for open play at the Silicon Valley Archives.

Next Event in the Series

In this month's Tabletop Tuesday, we look at the prolific German game designer Friedemann Friese, who has designed over sixty games. In 1992, Friese started his own game publishing company to produce his first game, Wucherer (literally "usurer" or "profiteer," although it was published as "Landlord" by Rio Grande Games in 1998). The majority of his game titles begin with the letter "F" and are colored green, but another hallmark of his game design is thematic focus and unusual mechanisms. We will be looking at four Friese games--Friday504, Fortress, and Fremde Federn--to explore his use of engaging mechanisms and quirky themes.
